The Unified Theory of the Nervous System
and Behavior
Cognitive Philosophy /Brain Theory by Steven Michael Harris
Problems that are identified as neurological disorders occur in the young, and the same problems eventually occur in the elderly.
Doctors give different explanations for these very similar expressions of disorder. The disorders of the young are caused by genetics, or by some kind of trauma, or a combination of genetics and other factors. In the elderly it is the natural result of aging (alluding to the possibility that the cells just wear out).
The individual cells of the retarded child appear to behave no differently than the individual cells of the healthy child. It is the relationships of the cells to each other and how they communicate that causes the problems.
In most cases the cells of those with neurological disorders are no different than those who are healthy. The difference is in the sensitivities and the how the communications of cells end up with problems of logic.
The expression of different disorders affecting the nervous system is really a mathematically predictable result of the mechanisms that make the system such a marvel. The mechanisms behind learning are the same mechanisms that result in a certain population developing the various groupings of symptoms. The essays that I will write will eventually make this case.
The answer is not in looking at what is wrong and what is different about the various disorders. The answer comes from looking at the limited expression of these groupings of disorders (the ways the system can go wrong are limited - which provides very useful information) and then trying to understand why these disorders can actually be a side-effect of the successful mechanisms that make the nervous system work. (Remember that everybody gets these disorders if they live long enough or go through enough stress.)
The cool thing about this is that understanding the mechanisms and developing a cure for symptoms of disorders that occur with youth will also develop a cure for many of the problems that are taken for granted as "natural" in the course of aging. The disorders of the elderly are not inevitable and to be accepted anymore when the nervous system is finally understood.
The cure for developmental disorders have the potential to become a kind of partial fountain of youth.

Many of the problems of medicine, biology, psychology and philosophy require an understanding of the basic mathematical principles behind how the nervous system does what it does to achieve function and experience, and that mathematics is not explained using narrowly-focused statistics. Understanding how this math works will be the tool for the discovery of many answers of great importance to humanity. The case for this concept and the offering of an explanation of this kind of math is made in the many essays of this website.
On these pages you will find ideas that should haunt you. Included are new concepts in science, medicine, sociology, evolutionary psychology, philosophy and more...
This website and the podcasts of Everyone's Revolution explain how the brain creates the mind, but many side issues must be resolved in order to teach this material. Once you realize that the "hard problems" are really the first problems to be answered, you then have a tool for changing all of science and medicine by explaining a massive number of discoveries that will fall into line in order to unify the evidence. All of the evidence is good. The interpretations of the evidence are mistaken in many cases. For ten years now there have been new discoveries of evidence that all move in the direction of supporting this theory (or this school of many theories) and its predictions. Quite a few people have started to pay attention to this theory as well.
